ABOUT
PERSHING HOME:
History
Harriet Weichbrod, R.N., started Pershing Convalescent Home. She was
joined by her daughter Lucille Engelsman, also at various times by her
grandchildren.
Mrs. Weichbrod was a 1919 graduate of the Oak Park Hospital School of
Nursing and worked continuously; until her passing in 1983. She
founded the facility on the premise of good nursing and lots of tender,
loving care. Her legacy continues to this day.
Lucille Engelsman continued her mother's legacy in this family-owned nursing
home. She was the Administrator since 1966 to 2005; she provided "tender
loving care" to our residents.
 Rates
Pershing accepts clients with private pay, commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid (Public Aid). Current rates are
$139.50 per day, which includes room and board, 24 hours nursing care, nursing
supervision, three nutritious meals, snacks and daily scheduled activities.

Meet the
Staff
Pershing is fully accredited and licensed by the Illinois
Department of Public Health and the Department of Human Services. Our
professional staff includes:
Owners: Dr. Prakash Navni, PT, DPT, MHA and Sadhna Navni, OTR/L, BS,
CDS are the new owners since October 2005. Dr. Navni is a physical
therapist and Sadhna Navni is an occupational therapist. Dr. Navni has been
working as a physical therapist for 29 years and Sadhna Navni has
been working as an occupational therapist for more than 22 years. They look
forward; Pershing home to be the first choice of provider for nursing home
placement and rehabilitation needs in Chicagoland area.
Administrator: Dr. Navni is also working as the facility administrator
at this time.
Assistant Administrator: Elena Barlow. Elena
additionally serves as the Social Service Director and is currently
preparing to be a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Elena has been
at Pershing for 13 years and has extensive Long Term Care experience in Psychosocial
and Social Services.
Director of Nursing: Dona Barton, R.N. Dona joined
Pershing in 2009. She has more than 21 years of experience as clinician and an administrator. She has developed many programs in the past for kids with developmental delay.
Assistant Director of Nursing: Maria Padilla, R.N. Maria has been at Pershing for 26 years. She is licensed in the Philippines as
well as in the United States.
Food Service Supervisor: Claire McDonald. Length of time at
Pershing - 41 years.
Head Cook: Ella Wantuch. Ella has been with Pershing since
coming to America 31 years ago. Schooled as a cook in Europe, her
home cooking is a favorite with residents.
Restorative Tech: Sherice Byrd. Sherice completed
Restorative Therapy Tech training in 2007. Presently working on the
development of the new PROM program at Pershing, this program will aim at
increasing functional abilities in our residents. Sherice joined
Pershing in 2007.
